Color Dare #3

Hi and welcome back to the Color My Heart color dare! We are up to 84 followers, and we are so pleased to have had 9 entries last week. They were really wonderful! You can see them all in one place if you scroll down to the previous post. From now on, I will choose a winner, and each of our design team members will choose their favorite as the runners up! The winner from last week is Julia Hammond! She had a fabulous boy-themed layout using all four colors and a layout from Magic. She even made her own B&T papers with stripes and spots. Go to her blog to check it out! Ruth's choice is: Jody Gustafson! Ruth really appreciated all the effort Jody put into her Under-the-Sea card with the puddle pad technique. It is gorgeous; go check it out!!!

The colors for this week are complimentary colors:
Dutch Blue
You also have the option to use Lilac Mist and Taffy. These are lighter shades of the same colors.

Lesson: Complimentary colors are two colors that sit directly opposite from one another on the color wheel. The most popular ones are: orange and blue, green and red, purple and yellow. Sorbet and Dutch Blue are soft shades of orange and blue. Ruth chose these because they coordinate excellently with her wedding photos. In addition to any of our neutrals, feel free to add green to your project this week. Sometimes green can act like a neutral color when a lot of foliage is involved.

Here is Ruth's beautiful layout:
This is Ensemble Piece from Imagine. Ruth made her own designer paper by stamping a script from Universal Backgrounds onto her Taffy cardstock with Taffy ink. Then she stamped the flourish from the You and Me set with Sorbet ink. Finally she stamped the flourish from the Wonderland WOTG set in VersaMark and heat embossed it with a sparkly embossing powder. Isn't it lovely?

Up next is my layout. It is from page 56 of the current Idea Book. Did you recognize it? These are pictures of me when I was little.
I used:
Paper: Elemental B&T, Sorbet, Taffy, Dutch Blue, and Lilac Mist cardstock
Stamps: Adventure USA, Piece of Cake (for the polka-dotted arrow)
Inks: Dutch Blue, Sorbet, Chocolate, Desert Sand, VersaMark
Other: Irresistables (from You and Me), DE chipboard shapes, Bottle Caps, White Daisy Bitty Brads, Black Marker, Clear Detail embossing Powder, Color Ready Hodge Podge Alphabet

Here is the creation from our newest design team member, my new downline and friend, Franny Boburka:
Franny used:
Paper: Elemental B&T, Dutch Blue and Vanilla Cream cardstock
Stamps: Card Word Puzzle and Harvest Happiness
Inks: Chocolate
Embellishments: Cream Pearls
Other: Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

Franny is brand new to CTMH and stamping. This just goes to show you don't need much skill to use our wonderful products! Aren't the tags wonderful?

And finally, we have a special treat for you from our guest design team member, the winner from last week, Cindy Leek!

Cindy made 2 cards for us. The first one uses Far-Sided Focus from Wishes and Under the Sea (colored with watercolor pencils and blended with the waterbrush)
The second card uses card #7 from the Christmas Card workshop in Wishes and the Bee Happy and Live Inspired stamp sets. I love her use of the Sorbet ribbon and she used her green very well! Thanks, Cindy!

Ok, here's how you get bonus points this week: I know there is something in the Idea Book you have been wanting to try, but haven't gotten around to yet. Now's your chance. BONUS POINTS if you make a project inspired by something out of the current Idea Book!!!! As always, you must use some CTMH products, but if you use 100% current CTMH products, you get bonus points (they are helpful when I decide on the winners, but not absolutely necessary.)

Now get creating! Make any type of project using this week's colors, take a picture of it, and post it to your blog or online gallery (using keyword cmh3). Make sure our link is in your blog post. Then upload your post (not the whole blog, just the post) to the link at the bottom of this page. Have fun!
