Color Dare #5

This week's color dare is: Create-your-own Rainbow based on the color wheel.

Lesson: This is going to be a very Elementary lesson on the color wheel.
There are 3 primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. When you mix the primary colors, for example: yellow and blue or blue and red, you get secondary colors. The secondary colors are green, orange and purple. Then, when you go even deeper, you can mix the secondary colors with the primary colors. This week we are focusing on primary and secondary colors. These colors are very pleasing to the eye when placed in this order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. This is the order of the colors in a rainbow. (I love rainbows because they are God's promise to us that he will never flood the earth again.)

Close to my Heart has many shades of these colors. Your assignment is to pick any shade of these 6 colors (it must be all 6), and use them on your project. Feel free to use any of our neutrals.

I made a simple stamped card with these 6 colors: Barn Red, Autumn Terracotta, Sunflower, New England Ivy, Indian Corn Blue, and Smokey Plum. I used Love Life, Just for You!, and Lucy WOTG stamp set. I stamped on White Daisy, and layered it onto a Barn Red card. I put a bitty Sparkle on each butterfly and a White Daisy ribbon next to the sentiment.

Ruth's card is really clever. I love how she combined the treasure at the end of the rainbow pot-o-gold from Pair-a-Phrase and paired it with the sentiment from Treasured Friend. And then she emphasized it with a blooming rainbow square made from CTMH cardstock. Her colors are: Cranberry, Sunset, Sunkiss Yellow, Pear, Moonstruck, and Amethyst. And to top it all off, she embossed the image in gold and added a beautiful sheer gold ribbon with a button. So pretty, Ruth!
